IRC has worked in Kenya since 1992, implementing highly-effective programs in youth livelihood, economic development, women’s empowerment, integrated healthcare, governance and peace-building.
Key Responsibilities
Support design and implementation of financial service related program initiatives including media campaigns and ICT based activities designed raise youth awareness and utilization of financial services.
Oversees the day-to-day financial management and accounting of the KYWP Contract at the project office;
Maintains and manages project office accounts, in coordination with Nairobi Finance Department. Perform regular reconciliation of project account book with SUN system database
Maintains complete, accurate and timely financial records in compliance with USAID and IRC policies and procedures; prepares and submits monthly financial reports to Nairobi finance office in timely manner
Prepares and tracks KYWP project budgets and budget projections;
Reviews vouchers and payment requests, including proper back-up documentation to ensure compliance with IRC policies and procedures and USAID rules and regulations;
Create linkages with financial services providers to identify potential products and services for youth.
Support the design of activities (through other program elements) that link youth and youth serving organizations with financial services and financial service providers.
Support the development and adaptation of life skills/soft skills/financial literacy training elements/modules within job and entrepreneurship training packages.
Support the development and monitor progress of financial service activity work plans.
Support collection of monitoring and evaluation data to track the progress and pace of relevant financial service activities.
Maintain productive working relationships with project partners, beneficiaries and key counterparts.
Working closely with IRC Technical Advisors, remain up to date on good practices and developments in youth financial services in order to ensure program quality and impact.
Basic Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, humanities, management, international development, political science, or other relevant field.
Minimum three (3) years of experience in working with or for the financial services sector.
Experience in youth outreach or youth skill-building programs.
Strong leadership, analytical and organizational skills. Demonstrated ability to quickly assess priorities and effectively manage a variety of activities at a time while paying appropriate attention to detail.
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact professionally with donor, project stakeholders, in-country collaborators and staff at all levels of the organization.
