This position requires a very organized, focused, results oriented and decisive individual with a progressive growth in financial management at senior management levels.
Role Purpose: Oversees all internal financial activities of the organization and is responsible for Audit, Taxation and Accounting activities of all clients and the organization.
The objective is to contribute towards the overall success of the firm through effective management of the key financial sections of the firm.
Reports: Managing Director
Duties & Responsibilities:
Participate and oversee corporate planning systems
Accountable and oversees the development and coordination of the organizations auditing, taxation and accounting activities
Ensure all financial reports are prepared in a timely manner ,are accurate and in accordance with accepted accounting principles
Allocate resources effectively and efficiently to all the departments
Understand clients’ businesses & key issues to ensure these are addressed early
Maintain a high technical and professional standard and ensure that all reports processed in the firm are of high quality at all times
Oversee the development, implementation and review of internal policies, procedures, and program for audit, taxation and accounting activities in the organization.
Monitor activities to ensure there is effective control systems which help in the achievement of established objectives for clients and organization
Supervise the activities of the three main departments of the firm, audit, tax and accounts sections and prepare relevant financial reports for the Managing Director for each.
Oversee the firms internal controls over financial reporting
Oversee the activities of all heads of accounts, tax and audit sections of the company
Supervise and oversee the administration function of the firm in liaison with the administrator
Investigate and establish any irregularities and errors and recommend corrective actions
Advise top management on audit, tax and accounting control matters
Oversee cash flow and payroll management for all clients and the firm
Coordinate and participate in the firms budget preparation
Identify suitable information technology that meets the organizations overall financial requirements in liaison with heads of different sections
Monitor and manage financial risk to ensure that this is minimized at all levels and advise management on appropriate insurance coverage for the organization
Education/Experience:
An MBA is an added advantage
BCom – Finance, Accounting, Business Administration
Professional Qualifications (CPA / CPS)
At least 4 years work experience in a progressive Managerial role with financial responsibility
Experience working with varied clients is an added advantage
Competencies / Skills
Proficiency in the use of MS-Office program and Accounting software
The individual must be authoritative, decisive and independent minded
Ethical, client focused and able to build lasting relationships and partnerships at all levels
An individual who believes in maintenance of high work standards
Effective communication and presentation skills
Interpersonal and project management skills
A team player with effective leadership skills having led at least 5 people
