Responsibilities
Job Description
Manage and execute pension accounting activities in collaboration with the company’s actuaries and asset management teams
Ensure and maintain company-wide compliance with ASC 842 (Accounting for Leases)
Manage accounting for corporate projects timely and accurately and ensure compliance with all policies and requirements
Process adjustments/entries during the consolidations process with subsequent follow-up where needed
Assist the VP Finance in managing the external audit and documentation process
Perform account reconciliations for certain accrual and reserve accounts
Manage accounting for variable compensation and deferred directors fees
Perform periodic reporting and provide other information for fixed assets as required
Assist Corporate HS&E and outside counsel with preparation of annual financial assurance letters and support as required by certain states’ regulatory agencies
Drive improved efficiency in the accounting process through automation and collaboration with other functions
Assist with other various corporate accounting processes and projects to ensure timely and accurate posting of all activities
Qualifications
4-6 years experience with:
Financial Analysis and Reconciliations
General Ledger Accounting
Chartered Accounting designation or CPA, preferred
College or university degree in finance/accounting, MBA a plus
Fundamental knowledge of financial statement preparation; experience in consolidation and inter-company process a plus
Public accounting or audit experience a plus
Experience in SAP or other ERP system; ERP implementation experience is a plus
Ability to work independently
