Pact is searching for a Driver/Logistics Assistant to be based in Mandera and will be responsible for driving assigned vehicles to transport Pact personnel and goods. This position will also assist with logistical coordination for field activities.
SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Transporting persons and goods
§ Drive assigned pact vehicles for work related activities.
§ Logs official trips as per Pact’s rules, including daily mileage, and fuel consumption
§ Ensure vehicle is insured
§ Observe the host country traffic regulations
§ Ensure that her/his driving licence is up to date
§ Undertake field trip driving for staff and visitors
§ Meet and assist staff/visitors on arrival and departures at air ports as required
Maintenance of vehicles
§ Responsible for the day-to-day cleanliness and routine maintenance of the Pact cars and logistics reports.
§ Ensure that vehicle is equipped with First Aid Kit, fire extinguishers, tire jacks and appropriate material required for organizations.
§ Perform minor repairs and ensure the safety of the car at all times.
Field Logistical Support
§ Perform procurement and logistical support.
§ Ensure orderly arrangement and proper handling and care of all items being transported, loading and offloading.
§ Supports arranging logistical requirements for workshops in town or field as necessary.
§ Pick up all necessary material for project activities and office operations.
§ Support video and photo documentation of various activities.
Incident Reporting
§ Report any emergency to relevant persons including line supervisor in a timely manner
§ Make sure that the accidents are reported to Insurance Company through the Admin/Logistics officer.
§ Submits log sheets and activity sheets monthly to Admin/log officer
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
A) EDUCATION
§ Minimum Form Four Certificate/ O level Education.
§ Certificate or diploma in Auto mechanic skills will be an added advantage
§ Government trade test licence desirable.
B) EXPERIENCE
§ At least 5 years of experience in field work driving for NGO
§ Experience in providing logistical support to projects/activities in remote areas.
C) PEOPLE SKILLS.
§ Trustworthy and reliable;
§ Valid driving license and good driving record
§ Physical fitness and willingness to work under pressure, possible long working hours and frequent field travel
§ Proven integrity and good human relation
§ Basic mechanical skill to be able to do small repairs if necessary
D) COMPETENCIES

E). WORKING CONDITIONS AND LEVEL OF TRAVEL REQUIRED.
The position is based in Mandera with frequent travel within the Somali cluster and Nairobi
