The incumbent will be responsible for managing a team to deliver growth and impact through the current key offerings and development programs including:
A 9-week business training program for people who want to start a business and would like to know how to successfully bring their idea to life.
An intensive 16-week business training program utilizing MBA content customized for early and growth-stage ventures in emerging market economies. The program equips entrepreneurs with skills to grow their businesses and biblical business principles to help integrate their faith into their activities and triumph over ethical challenges in the marketplace.
A 6-month accelerator for graduates of the Client Academy who have businesses capable of significant growth. The program starts with a customized business assessment for each participant coupled with access to high quality consultants, professional advisors, advanced training, investor match-making and ongoing discipleship.
Alumni Network: nurturing and leveraging lasting economic, social, and spiritual transformation through long-term relationships with our alumni. These are developed through regular events, creation of online community groups, and provision of content relevant to their business and spiritual growth, as well as ongoing personal engagement.
Additionally, client will shortly be introducing a range of coaching services
The organization is growing rapidly and is exploring next steps to develop and deliver services that address the needs of growth stage entrepreneurs. These include new market strategy development, operational scaling, organizational and talent development and access to capital. The Growth Director will lead development of next-level scaling content development, coaching, leverage cohort-based experiences, mentorship, advisory services and assistance in investment capital raising services. The Director will lead the development and ongoing delivery of these services, working with other leaders to establish a distinctive, high quality service offering and actively build presence in the established small and medium enterprise (SME) sector in Kenya.
This individual will also be part of the global leadership team for Client, working with others in building strategic relationships and addressing growth opportunities. Client also serve other international markets (currently Egypt, Burundi, Ghana, Brazil) through delivery partner organizations who have a presence and passion for serving entrepreneurs in countries where they are present.
KEY tasks: The incumbent will be responsible for the following:
Together with the global leadership team, develop the initial advanced entrepreneur services, pilot and define resource requirements, develop overall strategy and plan for
extending services after pilot phase.
Lead staff teams in Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda to deliver core objectives, discipleship growth, impact metrics, financial targets
Build capacity in all areas for today and tomorrow including staff development (coaching, mentoring, training and others), recruiting and hiring efforts
Lead efforts to build networks and relationships in the SME and growth capital sectors, including faith driven entrepreneurs and investors.
Establish and manage key local and regional strategic partnerships to support advisory, funding and business development / referral services.
Partner with the executive team to create linkages for trained entrepreneurs with investors and market opportunities
Actively participate and represent client in the local multi-organizational efforts to accelerate growth of faith-driven entrepreneur ecosystem
Work with client leadership to define strategy for extending new or growth services to other markets
Actively participate in the organization’s staff community to provide spiritual leadership and support professional development
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Mature, Active Follower of Christ – Has a genuine deep-rooted faith, is committed to ongoing growth of personal relationship with God, authentically reflected in how his / her life is lived. Personal associated characteristics of high integrity and positive attitude, grounded in the peace of God
Demonstrated track record of business building and leadership – Has successfully led the growth and operation of one or more businesses, with integrity and purpose for at least eight years. Experienced in defining and executing business strategies, building and leading teams, and driving operational expansion and performance improvement. Strong business judgment.
Strong Networks – Is appropriately networked or able to build relevant networks with the Nairobi entrepreneurial ecosystem, including the related financial / investment sector and appropriately leverage relationships for the organization. Has a strong personal faith community network.
Entrepreneurial Mindset with Strong Execution skills – A self-starter with strong initiative. Ability to see, test and capitalize on opportunities. A builder and operator, providing the vision and leadership to grow client in a new arena while actively coaching and mentoring Christian entrepreneurs through their own growth opportunities and challenges.
Demonstrate excellent Coaching and Advisor-Related Attributes – Engaging, with excellent communication skills, deep listening, verbal and written skills. Patient and committed to seeing others realize their potential. Has the confidence and poise to engender respect of business peers, and to have honest, difficult discussions when needed, but with a servant leader heart. A problem-solving mentality. Ideally has experience advising entrepreneurs and assisting with capital raises.
Heart to Disciple – Has genuine desire to mentor fellow business founders / leaders, such so they can exponentially impact others, grounded in deeper personal relationships with Christ. The Academics: An MBA and a background in managerial finance or equivalent. Have a deep understanding of the East African SME needs and aspirations, faith-based entrepreneur development and funding ecosystem and an ability to connect them to the organization’s mission and vision
Understands, can articulate and demonstrate measurement of impact metrics, tracking, analytics and reporting
