Position Summary
Our GroR platform enables smallholder farmers to access off-takers by ensuring full chain of custody and high-quality crops. We provide them with the right quality inputs, access to capital and risk-mitigation as well as training. In our current pilot project, we are present in Tharaka Nithi, Makueni, Bungoma, Lamu, Meru, Kitui, Uasin Gishu and Kilifi.
GroR is seeking a talented and experienced Senior Hub Coordinator – field based to join our growing agricultural business by assisting our local implementing partner Farmshine to expand our GroR platform.
Reporting to the Field Manager of GroR, the Senior Hub Coordinator, is expected to be responsible and accountable for the management of the sub county/Hub.
Key Responsibilities include:
Hub operations
Supervise and manage junior hub coordinators of your corresponding county.
Ensure security of containers in the hub by performing all the necessary checks and security procedures as stipulated.
Follow and supervise all the steps in the GroR value chain framework, from acquisition and early engagement with the farmer to the delivery of produce to the hub and storage.
Responsible and in control of the inventory held in the containers of your county and accountable when stock take happens.
Ensure compliance with set targets in terms of quantity purchased and farmers registered.
Guarantee that the quality and the quantity of the produce delivered by each farmer is in accordance with GroR standards.
Ensure the necessary logistical arrangements are timely implemented to guarantee delivery of the produce as per the buyer’s specifications.
Ensure full traceability of the bags from farm gate to buyer, by accurately registering them on the GroR platform with the corresponding QR code.
Promote use of regenerative agriculture practices, whenever required promote specific techniques such as organic, good agriculture practices etc.
Participate in field days and agricultural shows.
Deliver required reports in a timely and accurate manner.
Farmer engagement
Support hub coordinators in:
Conducting regular farmer visits and follow-ups to deepen skills and knowledge acquired from other training activities.
Ensuring GroR quality standards are applied along the whole value chain
Identifying & evaluating best performing farmers to be used as GroR role models and support them in their development
Building trust with farmers and ensure they fully understand the benefits offered by GroR’s platform to progressively take them up the income curve
Promoting and informing farmers and their associations about the services and products that will be progressively available on GroR platform.
Registering, support and manage each farmer on the GroR app, including the relevant farmer associations.
Training
Support hub coordinators in:
Carrying out farmer training to community groups to provide relevant knowledge and skills development on regenerative agriculture, GroR quality standards, contract fulfillment, or any other required practice.
Identify any specific training need for registered farmers and associations and, where appropriate, deliver part or the whole of it
Agriculture profitability management (understanding of costs of production, revenues and profit)
Train hub coordinators on inventory management
HQ engagement
Responsible for comprehensive reporting on the field activities along the GroR business model.
Support the field manager in scouting for new opportunities, hub locations, hiring of hub coordinators and any other support needed.
Proactively engage and coordinate with relevant County governments departments and other institutions in your region of operation and foster mutual beneficial partnerships.
Respond in a timely manner to queries raised by farmers.
Perform other related duties as may be required and assigned by the supervisor.
