Key Performance Areas
Asses a risk according to like hood of a claim being made by weighing up a number of factors and asking for detailed information from prospective clients (policyholders).
Determine if applications for insurance cover (risks) should be accepted and, if so, what the terms of that acceptance are.
Examine documents to determine degree of risk from such factors as applicant financial standing and value and condition of properly.
Request authorization for reinsurance of policy when risk is high.
Decline excessive risks.
Evaluate possibility of losses due to catastrophe or excessive insurance.
Review company records to determine amount of insurance in force on single risk or group of closely related risks.
Write to field representatives, and other personnel to obtain further information, quote rates, or explain company underwriting policies.
Education and experience:
Bachelor’s degree from recognized university,
Diploma in Insurance (AIIK or CII),
4 years experience in general insurance business,
Membership to IIK/CII is highly recommended,
Certificate of proficiency.
