Role Purpose: Under the general guidance of the IT Officer, The IT Intern is responsible for providing L1 technical support and service desk ticket management; Work with & support programs unit in developing, updating and maintaining the Child Protection DB and related web resources;
Scope of Role:
Reports to: Regional IT Officer
Dimensions: Save the Children works in 8 countries in East Africa (Kenya, Somalia, Uganda, Rwanda, Sudan, South Sudan, Tanzania and Ethiopia) with a current staff complement of approximately 3500 staff and current expenditure of approximately $200 million each year
Staff directly reporting to this post: None
Key Areas of Accountability:
Manage Information Technology and Computer Systems
Serve as a point of contact for IT support calls.
Providing technical support to the IT users of the organization;
Ensures that the IT equipment are functioning properly and escalates critical failures to the IT Officer;
Assist to ensure calls are logged into JIRA and resolving support calls logged through Service Desk system (JIRA) for the regional office
Cover for Regional IT Officer when he/she is on leave or engaged with other assignments
Install and configure new machines for users
Serves as the direct contact for mobile data devices including support & configuration
Performs other related tasks as required.
Report Internet downtimes to the ISP and follows up to quick resolution

Qualifications and Experience
Advanced Diploma or Degree in an area of Information Technology (IT) or equivalent.
Knowledge or basic skills in SharePoint and web application development.
Open attitude towards learning new systems is desired
Knowledge and experience in MS O365 server administration and Windows client & server environments
Having excellent proficiency in spoken and written English with strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work with people from diverse cultures.
Have commitment to work longer hours/weekends whenever needed.
Proven ability to work with & resolve issues raised via help desk/call logging system
