Our client is a design, build and management company that specialises in construction within remote areas.
With over 35 years’ experience in operating in remote areas, our client works to the highest international standards; employing the latest technology and construction methods.
Our client is also focused on the oil, gas, mining, industrial and residential sectors, where they strive for high quality as they deliver a bespoke design format, turnkey construction capability and end to end management systems.
The client currently is a medium sized contractor within the Kenyan market, with operations across a number of sub-saharan countries.
The Role: The ideal candidate will show very strong project management skills combined with dedication and initiative.
He will be expected to have strong commercial management skills and apply the highest levels of trust and integrity to the company.
He should also be able to take direct control of client’s project sites and lead by example where necessary.
The role will involve:
Client liaison and management and how they impact construction business.
Strong understanding of pricing, cost models and financial reporting.
Preparing the site and liaising with other construction professionals such as architects, engineers, buyers, estimators and surveyors.
Developing the program of work and strategy for project delivery.
Planning ahead to prevent problems on site before they occur, for example, planning the delivery and storage of equipment and materials and leasing with HQ on all procurement issues.
Making safety inspections of the site when work is underway and ensuring regulations relating to health safety and the environment (HSE) are adhered to.
Must have experience of oversight of multiple projects of values up to $5,000,000
Must show track record of high quality finishing’s focused on quality
Must show initiative and ability to lead through example and commitment to the highest standards of work
Will be expected to work on their own and manage a team of professions including expatriate workers
Must have experience working with multinational companies and ideally have worked abroad
Using construction management software packages to plan smooth work flows.
Communicating with a range of people including the client, subcontractors, suppliers, the public and the workforce.
Qualifications:
Degree level qualification
Bachelor of Construction Mgt (Preferred)
Member of Professional Institute locally or internationally
Minimum 10 years’ experience in managing major and complex projects to international standards
Additional
Permanent position in Kenya as Contract Manager/Projects Manager
Role requires high levels of energy and motivation
Sales and business development will be a part of the role
Compensation: Kshs 200,000 – 350,000 for the right candidate plus incentives.
