Maintenance Technician – Nairobi – By Appointment Africa

Duties and Responsibilities
Maintain all mechanical areas in an orderly and clean condition including the boiler and generator rooms.
Assist with the general upkeep of the hotel and maintaining the general hotel facilities.
Cleaning of light covers, bulbs and liaising with housekeeping for high cleaning & dusting.
Troubleshoot and perform minor repairs on heating, cooling and ventilation systems and advice to outsource services where necessary.
Troubleshoot and perform minor repairs on plumbing systems such as clogged drains and gas fireplace lighting and advice to outsource services where necessary.
Troubleshoot and perform minor repairs on electrical & mechanical systems and advice to outsource services where necessary.
Troubleshoot and perform minor repairs on appliances and advice to outsource services where necessary.
Move heavy furniture, equipment and supplies.
Perform routine maintenance jobs and repairs as well as maintain the Rooms Preventative Maintenance Program and consistently keep updated records on file.
Respond to all guests’ requests in a timely and efficient manner and other job requests.
After hours on-call availability if an issue arises, available some weekends.
Ensure sufficient supply of water to the hotel at all times.
Inspecting property to identify potential and current needs & act on them on a timely manner.
Ensuring maintenance procedures are followed and maintenance costs controlled.
Coordinating with local health, safety, fire, and building inspectors to ensure compliance with applicable codes and regulations.
Servicing the hotel’s pool, including adjusting chemicals and cleaning filters.
Completing maintenance logs correctly and on a timely manner.
To ensure proper personal grooming and correct dressing at all times.
To assist with and participate in regular training or coaching sessions and implement learnt material.
To take part in any fire or evacuation drills and ensure complete familiarisation with all exits, including those normally used by customers, as well as fire escapes.
To promote team spirit.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience
Experience in maintaining and running boilers
Higher National Diploma in Electrical engineering
Should be flexible and able to work in shift
Good people skills
Good team player
