Mechanical Technician – Nairobi – Wrigley Company East Africa Limited

Job Purpose: Responsible for the development, maintenance and breakdown repair activities in order
to ensure that all equipment in the factory process and packing areas are operating to the required standards in order to meet the demands of the business.

Mechanical engineering, mechatronics, process control systems, thermo-dynamic processes, transport automation, process capability, and reliability all form the backbone of skills essential for this role.

Optimizing and improving the performance of all site based engineering equipment will be a core purpose of this role.

Principal Accountabilities:
Identify and rectify faults on all equipment to include but not be limited to variability, repeatability, control processes, automation, motion, thermo-dynamic [product / process temperature management] and material wear.
Overhauling machine and gear components, maintaining conveyor and packaging equipment, and servicing automated machinery on production lines, identify and repair faults on equipment.
Works as a shift team member to keep machines running and also carry out preventative maintenance activities ensuring full documentation and feedback to the system.

Related Experience/Requirements:
Degree, or HND in mechanical engineering.
5 years’ experience in maintenance in FMCG manufacturing environment or Mechanical/automotive workshop.
Experience in root cause analysis and equipment problem solving.
Knowledge in 5S.
