Sr. Microfluidic R&D Engineer – Complete Genomics Inc. – Sunnyvale, CA, US

Summary
The Complete Genomics’ Fluidic Devices group is looking for an outstanding microfluidic R&D engineer to join CGI’s microfluidic device development team. In this position, you will be responsible for designing, characterizing microfluidic devices for sample preparation and analysis tools that enable leading-edge medical research and diagnostics. You will work with a global and interdisciplinary team within the Complete Genomics and BGI organization.

Major Duties And Responsibilities
Design and fabricate macro- and microfluidic devices.
Perform device characterization experiments and trouble shooting.
Perform data analysis and documentation.
Work cross-functionally with biology, reagent, instrumentation and software teams to deliver products to customers.
Identify and develop manufacturing processes and partners to scale and launch products. Present clear and concise written and oral communications to colleagues and provide recommendations based on technical results.

Minimum Qualifications
Ph.D./MS/MA in mechanical engineering, chemical or Bio-Engineering or related field.
3+ years of experience developing of products in the life sciences.
Deep understanding of microfluidics system, the fabrication processes, materials and surface chemistry, and its physical/chemical limitations for analyzing biological samples.
High attention to detail, including a proven ability in fluidic testing, data analysis and device characterization.
Experience with design and simulation tools such as Autocad, solidworks, and Comsol required.
Digital microfluidic experience and familiarity with nucleic acid biochemistry is highly desirable.
Strong team-orientation with superior verbal and written communications and the ability to work in a multi-discipline team environment are required.
International travel 30~40%
