Business Development Manager – Horticulture Exports

Job Responsibilities:
Manage export sales of horticultural products into designated overseas markets.
Set and achieve sales budgets and marketing programs
Prepare and maintain monthly, quarterly and annual sales forecasts on a 12 month rolling schedule.
Manage and lead the sales and marketing team.
Seek out new market segments and secure new business.
Develop, drive and monitor the annual sales and marketing plan and strategic plan for the Company.
Provide leadership through effective communication of vision, active coaching and team development.
Compare sales results and forecasts to goals.
Proactively identify changes and competitive pressures in the horticulture industry to develop and modify marketing strategies and sales tactics accordingly.
Drive the development of key customer relationship management and CRM systems.
Position and represent business through appropriate industry functions and trade shows, seminars and conferences as appropriate.
Work to set up programs and plan promotional activity to create a market pull for our products.
Check the quality of the produce, overseeing logistics and following up with customers after arrival of their orders.
Directs distribution of a product to international markets by identifying customers; meeting their needs; implementing sales plans.
Executing sales & marketing strategies.
Preparing and presenting commercial proposals and contracts.
Building teams to manage sales, implementation and customer support
Creating, negotiating and managing relationships with partners in accordance with policies and strategies of the company
Managing budgets, targets and other kpis for the sales team
Effectively managing sales & market development for the business in the specified territory/markets.
Providing key market information for key market decisions
Identify market opportunities within the specified segments and to co-ordinate regional and national initiatives to capture these opportunities
Identify key individuals critical to business development / maintenance within the target segments
Formulate and drive the new business opportunities and develop and drive the marketing strategy

Qualifications & Skills
The successful candidate will have a proven track record in sales team management and achievement of high level leadership and management talents, complemented by excellent communication and time management skills.
5 years Export Sales experience in the Horticulture & Perishable goods industry
Working knowledge of the export industry & international trade (horticulture preferred)
Strong analytical and problem-solving ability
Ability to speak multiple languages will be regarded but not essential
Proven effective negotiation skills
Relates well to, and works effectively with people of diverse backgrounds
Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines
