Call For Consultants – Parent Teacher Associations Training – Nairobi – Windle Trust Kenya

Gam Group Sdn Bhd Windle Trust Kenya (WTK), a member of Windle Trust International Federation is a humanitarian education organization providing education to refugees and needy Kenyans. WTK was founded in 1977 with the belief that good education was essential if Africa was to meet the challenges it faced. World University Service of Canada (WUSC) is a Canadian non-profit organization with a mission to foster human development and global understanding through education and training. WTK and WUSC are working in partnership to implement the Kenya Equity in Education Project (KEEP) – a DFID funded girl’s education project in northern Kenya. KEEP will improve retention and performance of marginalized girls in primary and secondary school in northern Kenya, as well as contribute to the opportunities of refugee girls and their families by investing in their future capacity to succeed.
In a context where there is not widespread support for girls’ education, it is critical to work with Parent Teacher Associations (PTA’s) and existing school management structures towards greater understanding and support. A girl’s success in school is enabled by having parents and a community that encourages her education. To ensure widespread support for girls’ education, KEEP is working with PTA’s to raise awareness, and promote girls’ education. The PTA’s are critical to ensuring the broad reach of the project and will build sustainability through community leaders who will be advocates of girls’ education when the project is completed.
The PTA Training consultant will provide targeted training to 267 PTA members in the 89 KEEP target schools located in the Dadaab and Kakuma refugee camps and surrounding host communities.
