Chief Compliance Officer – American Oncology Network, LLC – Florida

POSITION SUMMARY
The Chief Compliance Officer (“CCO”) of American Oncology Partners is accountable for designing and delivering appropriate, risk-based compliance policies and procedures and monitoring, auditing and training programs in support of the delivery of quality oncology care in multiple locations and multiple states.
This position is primarily responsible for overseeing and managing regulatory compliance issues within an organization including the development, planning, directing of a comprehensive enterprise wide compliance program. The CCO partners with executive leadership, physicians, and department leaders to ensure adherence to the corporate compliance and privacy programs. This position will implement and monitor policies and procedures across the organization, including developing new policies as needed to ensure compliance with rules and regulations, applicable laws and accreditation standards.
The CCO will provide leadership, direction, guidance, and assistance on compliance matters related to the organization in a manner consistent with the company’s mission, vision, and values. The CCO will lead the implementation of a comprehensive compliance and privacy program including the team, processes, and the infrastructure to oversee and ensure the delivery of high quality and cost-effective compliance to all entities across the organization.

The COO will develop, implement, and manage a robust risk and compliance program; partner with stakeholders and legal counsel to ensure compliance across all aspects of the system, including technology, marketing , billing, etc.; work with third-party vendors, payers, and other partners to ensure that our privacy, security, and compliance standards translate to all our vendors and partners ; develop programs to promote and enforce compliance across the entire system, including team member and partner trainings and awareness campaigns; lead identification and response to potential compliance violations and risk vulnerabilities; work cross-functionally as a partner to clinicians, legal counsel, technology, billing , public affairs, and other key stakeholders; continually look for ways to use technology and process efficiencies to ensure the compliance program is effective, efficient, and scalable. Other responsibilities include co-chairing the Compliance Committee of the Company, as well as compliance committees throughout the organization. The CCO will communicate regularly with Senior Executive Leadership and report directly to the Board and administratively to the Chief Legal Officer & General Counsel. The CCO will oversee compliance personnel, including the Privacy Officer, Physician Practice Compliance Officer and others as assigned.
The position requires engagement, and collaborative working relationships with leadership of other functions and cross-functional teams across multiple locations and states to ensure consistent understanding, application and implementation of corporate compliance and privacy policies and controls. A thorough understanding of states laws, standards, regulations and relevant industry codes applicable to healthcare, outpatient and medical practice, and physician groups is required. At least 25% travel required.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, CREDENTIALS AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, business or related field is required. Master preferred. Juris Doctor is an asset. Certification as a CHC (Certified in Healthcare Compliance) is preferred. Valid drivers license in domicile state.
At least 15 years’ progressive work experience in healthcare compliance, legal, internal audit or other related fields. Work experience must include complex, multi-state health systems and at least 7 years overseeing compliance for multi-state physician groups. Start-up and merger and acquisition experience required.
A strong understanding of healthcare compliance, including fraud & abuse laws, Stark law, HIPAA, coding and reimbursement billing requirements and government investigations. Demonstrated understanding of relevant federal and states laws, standards, regulations and industry codes.
