Child Safeguarding: Level 3 – the responsibilities of the post may require the post holder to have regular contact with or access to children or young people

Role Purpose: The CRG Intern will work closely with the Senior Manager, CRG at the RMCPU and provide support to carrying out a mapping survey in the region on the different partners and initiatives on Investment in Children (IiC), aimed at strengthening our advocacy in this area and defining the regional approach to Investment in Children.

Scope of Role:
Reports to: Senior Programme Manager, CRG

Dimensions: Save the Children works in 7 countries in East Africa (Kenya, Somalia, Uganda, Rwanda, Sudan, South Sudan, and Ethiopia) with a current staff complement of approximately 3500 staff and current expenditure of approximately $200 million each year

Key Areas of Accountability:

1. Regional Investment in Children Mapping Exercise
Assist in data collection from Country Offices on current Investment in Children (IiC) programs including the legal and policy framework on IiC.
Support the regional mapping on the legal and policy framework on Investment in Children.
Assist in the analysis of information collected from the mapping exercise.
2. Strategy Development and Dissemination
Compile a database of key regional and national actors implementing IiC related work in the region.
Support the development of a learning agenda on IiC and assist in profiling SC’s work in the Region.
Support in the drafting of the regional IiC strategy
Organize a round table discussion on the draft strategy and compile feedback from different stakeholders
3. Project Management Support
Support the development of RMCPU reports to the main donor and other partners
Work with project teams to create and regularly update project profiles
Assist with events organised by the RMCPU.

Qualifications and Experience
University Degree in Economics, Development Studies, Business Studies or any other related field
Understanding of public finance and children’s rights
Excellent written and spoken English
Ability to think and work logically and work precisely with attention to detail
Experience and skills in the use of software programs such as MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Adobe
Initiative, sound judgment and demonstrated ability to work harmoniously with staff members of different national and cultural backgrounds.
Demonstrated effective organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines and handle work in a timely manner
Knowledge of or interest in Save the Children, as well as a commitment to the mission and vision
Willingness and ability to travel to gather stories.
