Job Profile: The Digital Officer reports to the Head of Regional Communication Centre (RCC) in Nairobi.
His/her main responsibility will be to enhance the global visibility of ICRC’s activities in English-speaking Africa through relevant and timely content generation and editing for ICRC’s online platforms (web and social media).
The Responsibilities
Editorial planning: The Digital Officer will develop an editorial plan and agenda based on ICRC’s global digital strategy in order to strengthen ICRC’s online positioning as well as the engagement with our key audiences;
Generating new content: The Digital Officer generates, identifies, develops, edits and maintains engaging online content for the icrc.org/Africa and social media platforms in English;
Content gathering and editing: The Digital Officer will coordinate content gathering with ICRC’s English-speaking African delegations and review, edit and upload it on ICRC’s African webpages and social media platforms;
Coaching and training: The Digital Officer coaches and trains English-speaking African delegation’s communication officers in charge of their local digital content on both editorial and technical aspects;
Digital content promotion: The Digital Officer manages digital campaigns on both organic and paid visibility for search and social channels, particularly on SEO and SEM, in order to promote a content. S/he provides relevant impact analysis;
Building the online network: The Digital Officer defines and implements engagement strategies for ICRC’s digital platforms.
The Requirements:
University education in communication or related field (such as new media or journalism);
5 years’ professional experience in communications, preferably in the non-profit sector and/or in African countries;
Fluency in written and spoken English is a must; French or/and other languages is an asset;
Proven online content writing/editing skills and strong communication skills;
Strong capacity to use a CMS (Drupal and/or WordPress and others);
An understanding of SEO and PPC, good knowledge of specialized online software (Google analytics etc);
Capacity to analyse the political and social environment.
