IMA World Health is the prime contractor for the USAID/Kenya and East Africa Afya Jijini program in Kenya. Afya Jijini seeks to improve and increase access and utilization of quality health services in Kenya through strengthened service delivery and institutional capacity of county health systems within Nairobi. :
Afya Jijini is working with the county government with emphasis on partnership with the county health management teams to implement the county health strategic and investment plan. IMA seeks to hire Field Assistant -Youth Friendly Services.
JOB SUMMARY
The Youth-Friendly Services Field Assistant will manage the designing, rolling out implementation, monitoring and evaluation of strategies and priorities for Youth-friendly Sexual and Reproductive Health services as well support the Adolescent HIV Services in Nairobi County. He/she will work closely with the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Public Service, Youth and Gender Affairs, Ministry of Education Science and Technology. S/he will work with the Youth and Gender Advisor to plan, implement and report on all Youth Friendly Services.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop, monitor and review strategies, work-plans and budgets, through participatory approaches with the intended beneficiaries in order to enhance uptake of SRH services by the youth. (Planning and Quality Assurance )
Develop strategies that attract key beneficiaries as well as ascertain quality for SRH services within the sub counties of focus.
The jobholder will develop and implement concepts and activities that deliver health impact. (Social Marketing)
Design and coordinate implementation of systems & activities for identifying and sharing field success stories to inform program planning and institutional development (Knowledge Management)
Setup mechanisms that integrate marketing into strategic behavior communication within a typical urban, peri-urban or community setting.
Ensure that activities at all times comply with relevant policies, legislation, technical and ethical standards. (Risk management)
Work closely with community drivers of change to advocate for improved health services and to raise young people’s and community awareness about their rights to access quality services, mobilizing demand and action amongst communities.
Build and maintain advocacy and networking efforts within existing, previous and potential donors, Ministry of Health, sub-counties of focus and other relevant stakeholders implementing Sexual and Reproductive health activities and vulnerable groups of youth for the continuity of program interventions (Advocacy PR and partnership development)
Prepare and submit weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual and end of program/ projects reports to the Youth and Gender Advisor for collation and submission to donors, Ministry of Health and other relevant stakeholders.( Project management)
Carry out quarterly program performance monitoring visits to the regional teams, implementing partners and program beneficiaries.
Working closely with the HTS Program Officers and Social Linkages Program Assistants organize for monthly peer education sessions for ALHIV including providing basic information on HIV, HIV care and treatment, importance of retention in care, adherence to treatment, disclosure, basic emotional and psychosocial support, positive prevention, safer sex practices
Represent Afya Jijini in Adolescent and Youth Technical Working Groups and sharing prompt reports with the Youth and Gender Advisor.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The applicant should preferably hold a Degree in Social Humanities e.g. Social Sciences, Social Work, Community Development, Development Studies, Communication.
The applicant should be a versatile youth with at least two years’ experience working with adolescent health or youth programs
