Job Summary: Admission into The Academy is highly competitive. It includes a multiple stage evaluation process for selected applicants. The goal of The Academy’s admissions review process is to select from a large pool of strong applicants from all 47 counties.
These individuals should have demonstrated the intellectual curiosity, tenacity, leadership potential and commitment to community service that will be expected of the M-PESA Foundation Academy student.
The primary responsibility of the Head of Admissions therefore is to develop and oversee a rigorous and transparent process of admissions for new students to The Academy that is able to effectively scan the length and breadth of the country.
This is a high visibility role that requires an individual who can eloquently and passionately espouse the vision and ideals of The Academy.
About the Academy: Our client, The M-PESA Foundation Academy is a state of the art, mixed boarding high school that will provide world class Kenyan education. The vision of The Academy is to develop transformational leaders through innovative approaches to education.
The core curriculum of The Academy is the 8-4-4 curriculum. The academic concepts shall be covered in exciting and innovative ways.
Great focus will be given to entrepreneurship and leadership, giving the students time to learn outside of the classroom, explore the arts and take part in sports. The Academy will serve talented but economically disadvantaged students with demonstrated leadership potential.
The Academy will cultivate the students’ abilities to innovate irrespective of their academic strengths or weaknesses. As such, students will work with teachers and one another to design projects that can solve real world challenges.
Students who graduate from The Academy will be leaders in their fields of interest such as business, academia, politics, sports and the arts. They will be the entrepreneurs and community leaders who will drive Kenya forward.
The Academy will admit its first ever students in January 2016. It is in this view that The M-PESA Foundation Academy is seeking to recruit dynamic and visionary individuals with exceptional skills in the following capacities.

Key Responsibilities
Develop a highly competitive, rigorous and transparent criteria and process for selecting students into The Academy that ensures equity and inclusivity;
Design a recruitment and selection schedule in line with The Academy’s annual calendar;
Identify and develop support tools and infrastructure to systematically and efficiently handle applications and interviews with candidates and their parents/guardians, make arrangements for admissions testing, secure necessary student credentials and communicate final decisions to the appropriate individuals; and
Oversee the effective staffing and administration of the admission’s office.
Person Specifications
A minimum of Master’s Degree from an accredited university;
Experience in organising and managing recruitment drives;
Demonstrated ability to employ best practice selection tools and methodologies;
Proven track record in public relations and communications;
An engaging, high energy, creative, and personable attitude;
Knowledge of 21st century educational practices; and
Experience in new recruitment techniques using social media.
