Context:
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is one of the major humanitarian as well as developmental actors in Somalia. IOM is currently implementing primary healthcare projects across all major regions and major migration points in the country, and is expanding its programme. In this context, IOM is seeking for a Health Programme Assistant – Pharmacist Technologist to support the Migration Health Division (MHD).

Core Functions / Responsibilities:
The specific tasks include:
1. Responsible for all drugs and medical supplies in coordination with IOM Somalia MHD designated staff.
2. Assist in procuring drugs, including liaising with procurement on all aspects of the bidding and contracting process following IOM SoPs.
3. Verify the standards of the drugs quoted and supplied and ensure that they are registered in the country.
4. Development of a pharmaceutical database for use in Nairobi and across all field locations, to monitor drug and health commodity quantities, average monthly consumption, expiration dates, donations, etc.
5. Develop stock data sheet to monitor the supplies, consumption, and storage of medical supplies. Ensure medical drugs are stored per location for easy identification in Nairobi.
6. Assist the Health Programme Coordinator in monitoring appropriate prescribing practices to meet service delivery needs and IOM standards and that treatment guidelines are strictly followed;
7. Develop a training curriculum for MHD and MoH staff on pharmaceutical management, and train the teams on MHD SoPs around pharmaceutical management.
8. Monitor the performance of MHD Ministry of Health seconded and partner staff and ensure timely submission of consumption reports.
9. Represent IOM in health and PRD related pharmaceutical coordination meetings in Nairobi and Somalia.
10. Undertake duty travel when required.
11. Conduct additional tasks that may be assigned by the Health Programme Coordinator.

Required Qualifications and Experience
Education
• Diploma holder from recognized institution and registered with Kenya pharmacy and Poisons Board
• High level of computer literacy (MS Office Word, Excel, Outlook)

Experience
1. A minimum of five years of experience working in pharmaceutical management. Experience working in the field of international development or humanitarian work as asset.
2. Good knowledge of Microsoft Office and internet applications, knowledge of SPSS, is an asset.
3. Experience in database management.

• Required Fluent in English and Somali an asset
• Arabic is an added advantage
