The University of Maryland Baltimore Global Health Initiatives through its operating arm Maryland Global Initiatives Corporation Kenya implements comprehensive HIV prevention, care and treatment programs to facilitate the Kenya Ministries of Medical Services and Public Health to control the spread of HIV and rapidly scale up HIV services, institute continuous quality improvement methods as well as the M & E infrastructure necessary to support these services. MGIC is seeking a suitably qualified persons able to fill the following position:
The Human Resource Officer will support the development, coordination and implementation of policies and procedures relating to the effective use of personnel within MGIC. The HRO will promote practices that drive an employee-oriented, high performance culture emphasizing diversity, quality and productivity.
Key Responsibilities :
1.To support managers on recruitment related activities. This involves; advising on job descriptions, providing support in preparing advertisements, screening applications, short-listing the candidates, providing support on designing the selection process and participating in the interview 2.Induction of new staff. 3.Coordinate the administration of employee payroll and benefits and maintaining staff related records. 4.Carry out HR administrative tasks such as timesheet and leave management. 5.Act as the key liaison for Insurance Companies providing services to MGIC. 6.Working closely with staff and their line managers, to assist them in understanding and implementing procedures and policies as well as employment legislation. 7.Ensuring that department managers receive an accurate and timely assistance in response to particular queries related to HR policies or other aspects of employment legislation. 8.Coordinate performance management systems. 9.Promoting diversity and quality as part of organization’s culture 10.Maintain systems of employee health, safety and security, welfare and wellness.
Mininmum qualifications and person specifications:
•Bachelor’s degree in human resource management, Social Sciences or a business related field •Postgraduate Diploma in Human Resource Management •3 years’ relevant experience •Good Interpersonal and communication skills •Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications and basic numeracy skills required for operating various systems •Ability to interpret, analyze, and explain the official framework employment regulation. •Integrity and friendly approachability. •Good negotiating and influencing skills in implementing personnel policies. •Ability to research, evaluate and analyze new recruitment techniques, methods, and procedures. •Able to work alone on a broad variety of projects.
