Job Summary:
The incumbent will provide technical leadership and support to Nairobi County and Sub County Health Management Teams in the implementation of High Impact Nutrition Interventions (HINI) within the World Health Organization’s defined building blocks for Health System Strengthening
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
• Assist the Senior Manager to provide technical support and leadership to MOH and local partners in the implementation of integrated maternal child health and nutrition services
• Assist the Senior Manager to embed a health systems strengthening approach into Concern’s Urban health and nutrition programmes with a focus on governance, budgeting and resource allocation, human resource management system, supplies and logistics system, health management information system and the quality of care
• Provide technical support and guide capacity building efforts in HINI; trainings, mentorship, OJT, CMEs,
Quality of Care maintaining strong links, dissemination of MNCHN materials
• Liaising closely with the SCHMT and Health Facility Management Team (HMT) to develop and ensure MoH ownership and integration into the existing health systems
• Work closely with the SCHMT in overseeing planning, implementation of Sub County HINI work plans and activities
• Guide government teams in the decentralization of service delivery under the new County structures Working with stakeholders at Sub County level to establish health and nutrition complementary interventions
• Participate and provide technical inputs into County and sub county planning processes
• Facilitate behaviour change for Maternal Infant and Young Child Nutrition (MIYCN) issues in the community
• Play an active role in the roll out of community health services to enhance MNCH and nutrition services at the household/ community through Community
• Community Units and Community Conversations
• Providing technical support to MoH and partners on the roll out and management of IMAM Surge in the sub counties.
• Assist Senior Programme Manager in development and review of County costed work plans, budgets and monitoring of partner grants for compliance with Concern and donor requirements
• Contribute to and maintain strong links with other programme managers (FIM, HIV, Education and Advocacy) to reinforce a strong Concern programme approach.
• Assist in advocacy to inform policy makers and assist in policy review based on programme learning and field based evidence.

• Contribute to the development of programme strategies, annual proposal and work plans
Representation
• Representing Concern in Sub County health and nutrition meetings and fora
• Represent Concern at MNCH technical meetings at county and sub county
• Maintain good working relationships and co-ordination with national and international partners.
Monitoring and Evaluation
• Participate in monitoring through field support visits, joint supervision
• Assist in managing results framework within Concern and partners
• Monitoring the health and nutrition situation in the Sub County including coordinating surveys, surveillance and assessments as required
• Participate in development of annual programme proposal and work plans
• Assist in preparation of programme proposals for submission to donors for funding
• Assist in preparation of high quality written reports for Concern and donors
• Documentation of the programme process and compiling programme reports including generating lessons learnt and case studies
Responding to Emergencies:
• Participate and contribute as necessary towards Concern’s Emergency response as and when necessary
• Comply with Concern’s health, safety and security guidelines during emergencies
Programme Participant Protection Policy
• To adhere to the standards of conduct outlined in the Programme Participant Protection Policy and Concern Code of Conduct.
• To support and promote the standards outlined in the Programme Participant Protection Policy and Concern Code of Conduct to their team, partner organisations and beneficiaries, and be committed to providing a safe working environment.
• To contribute to the establishment of preventive measures to reduce the potential for abuse in Concern programme (as per P4 section 6).
Job Specification:
• A degree in Health, Nursing, Food Nutrition and Dietetics or relevant field.
• At least four (4) years’ experience in Maternal Neonatal and Child Health with at least three (3) years’ experience in a project supervisory or managerial role
• Knowledge and experience in MoH systems at County level and working with and through local partners and an understanding of Emergency Obstetric Neonatal Care
• Excellent programme planning, monitoring and evaluation, interpersonal and report writing skills
• Fluent in both spoken and written English and Kiswahili
• Proficient in the use of computer applications
