Short Term Internship Opportunity
Yetu Initiative is a 4-year, Global Development Alliance (GDA) partnership funded by AKF (USA) and USAID/Kenya. It aims at building the capacity of Kenyan Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) to catalyze local support for local development needs. The GDA will link Kenyan CSOs with tools that build their assets, capacity, and trust, thereby rooting CSOs in the communities they serve. Yetu also expects to engage with more than 5 million Kenyans, qualitatively enhancing Kenyan perceptions of civil society. By building trust between CSOs and the communities they serve, Yetu will build a lasting foundation of local support for Kenyan CSOs into the future.
Objective of the Internship
The general objective of this internship is to assist in strengthening the Yetu and partners Monitoring and Evaluation Systems. It will involve regular data collection, analysis and regular reporting to ensure that Yetu Initiative activities proceeds according to plan and delivers the desired results. Under the overall supervision of the Yetu M&E Manager, the intern shall support the Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) team in maintaining and designing an effective monitoring and evaluation system for monitoring implementation, measurement of results and reporting. The internship shall be for a duration of six months and based in Nairobi. The successful candidate will receive a stipend for the duration of the internship.
Specific assignments will include but are not limited to:
a. Assist in designing data collection tools
b. Assist in creating, populating and updating monitoring sheets
c. Assist in designing, updating and managing Yetu and Partner databases
d. Support in implementing quality control measures for Yetu and partner data, running periodic data quality checks, identifying and fixing data errors
e. Support in managing data back-up and maintaining the security of data
f. Support in routine monitoring process and indicator measurement
g. Support in writing reports on Yetu progress in implementation of activities, and results
Qualifications and Skills
a. A Bachelor’s degree from a recognized University
b. Proficient in the use of computer packages and applications
c. Proficiency with data analysis software including MS Excel, MS Access, SPSS, STATA
d. Excellent communication, analytical, planning and team skills
e. Fluent in both written and spoken English and Kiswahili
