Operations Manager – Nairobi – University of Maryland

The University of Maryland Baltimore Global Health Initiatives through its operating arm Maryland Global Initiatives Corporation Kenya implements comprehensive HIV prevention, care and treatment programs to facilitate the Kenya Ministries of Medical Services and Public Health to control the spread of HIV and rapidly scale up HIV services, institute continuous quality improvement methods as well as the M & E infrastructure necessary to support these services. MGIC is seeking a suitably qualified persons able to fill the following position:

The Operations Manager will ensure organizational support effectiveness by providing strategic leadership and hands-on implementation of action plans for the MGIC operations support functions of Administration, Logistics and Human Resources.

Key Responsibilities:
1.Manage and increase the effectiveness and efficiency of human resources, administration and logistics functions at MGIC. 2.Play a lead role in driving long-term planning and initiatives geared towards operational excellence. 3.Regularly update the Director of Finance and Administration on procurement, HR, Logistics and administration planning and implementation process. 4.Oversee monthly and quarterly assessments and performance forecasts of organisation’s support function. 5.Manage and supervise the Administration, Logistics and HR Officers.

Minimum Requirements and Personal Specifications:
•Bachelor’s degree in a business related field (specialization in Operations Managment will be an added advantage). •Postgraduate diploma in business management or purchasing and supplies management. •Membership of a purchasing and supplies management professional body will be an added advantage. •A minimum of five years relevant senior level experience with at least three years’ experience in purchasing and supplies management. •Strong leadership skills. •Strong planning and organizational skills. •Excellent communication and persuasion skills. •Ability to work in a high pressure environment. •Highly levels of integrity. •Knowledge of tax and other compliance implications of non-profit status. •Proficiency in Microsoft Office Application
