Nuru Kenya Social Enterprise is comprised of a Dairy, Poultry, and Consumer Products Business currently working in Migori County, Kenya.
Nuru Kenya Social Enterprises is looking for an experienced professional to fill the position of Poultry Health Manager.
The person shall directly report to the NKSE Poultry Business Line Manager.
Duties
Maintaining safe work practices of all employees and contractors on site
Ensuring the welfare of livestock, feed ordering, ventilation management, vaccination, record keeping etc. are met.
Managing and leading a team of people
Compliance with legislative and assurance scheme standards
Compilation of weekly and Monthly reports.
Diagnosis and post-mortems, demonstration on vaccine administration.
Conducting farmer seminars, group discussions, trainings and farm visits.
Marketing of poultry products like broiler meat, eggs, manure and ex-layers
Market intelligence/monitoring of competitor activities.
Maintain and grow customer data base.
Conducting joint seminars and workshops for farmers together with other stakeholders involved in the poultry industry.
The successful candidate will successfully and efficiently provide organisation/management of the following areas:
Livestock health,
Environment and husbandry issues,
Ensuring protocols and guidelines are followed correctly,
Liaising with management as necessary on the above,
Stock placement,
Feed ordering,
Health and safety of the flock and employees,
Bio-security,
Building and equipment maintenance
The successful candidate should have:
Agricultural qualification and preferably degree in animal health or any related field
Minimum 5 year experience in the poultry industry
Previous poultry experience – preferably in commercial broilers & layer rearing
A practical attitude – not afraid of hard work
Good communication and leadership skills,
The ability to motivate and influence others,
A working knowledge of current legislation and farm procedures,
Good computer literacy skills
A hands on approach to maintenance
A valid driving licence
Be progressive, forward thinking and proactive.
Working Conditions
Work will be performed 70 % in Kisumu and 30% in Isebania
Work regular business hours or do shift work, which may include nights, early mornings and weekends
Remuneration will be Commensurate with demonstrated skills and experience.
