The Procurement Officer will provide guidance, assistance and support to both Headquarters staff and Country Offices.
The position will be directly involved with the entire procurement system (solicitation, acquisition and contract execution) ensuring an efficient and effective procurement transaction.
The Incumbent will ensure the procurement transaction follows donor regulations, provides customer satisfaction, and achieves cost savings and cost avoidance in a transparent and ethical manner.
The Procurement Officer, will report to the Senior Logistics and Administration Officer, Country Program Manager (Kenya) Finance Manager, Human Resource Manager and Communications Manager.
About Action Africa Help International: Action Africa Help International (AAH-I) is an African-led, regional organisation, working in East and Southern Africa to improve the lives of livelihood-challenged communities.
AAH-I has country programmes in Kenya, Somalia, South Sudan, Uganda, and Zambia. It brings over 20 years’ experience working with communities in conflict and post-conflict situations, including refugees, internally displaced people and host communities.
More recently, it has expanded its activities to work with other marginalised communities, including pastoralist communities and communities in urban slums.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, Procurement & Logistics, or the equivalent.
Minimum of five (5) years progressive work experience in procurement and expediting deliveries of goods or services;
Demonstrated experience in solicitation process and contract negotiation, execution and administration;
Strong process orientation and strategic thinker;
Experience working in International Development a plus.
Skills and Competence:
Knowledge and concept of procurement procedures and policies;
Strong writing skills are imperative;
Excellent interpersonal, communication, teamwork, presentation skills and ability to use their own initiative required;
Knowledge and use of the Microsoft Office products especially Excel;
Ability to operate under pressure and meet tight deadlines;
Ability to product source as and when required;
Excellent administrative skills;
Strong negotiations skills are imperative;
