Programme Officer – Nairobi – DFID

Background: In January 2015, DFID entered into a contract with BMB Mott MacDonald to deliver a programme titled the “Implementation and Analysis in Action of Accountability Programme in Somalia” (IAAAP). This programme is a research-led adaptive programme with initiatives throughout
Somalia.

These interventions and research activities includes support for government and civil society. Government institutions, NGOs, CSOs and private sub-contractors are involved in the implementation of the program.

The programme management is currently looking for a new member of staff in the Nairobi office.

BMB Mott MacDonald is seeking to recruit a ‘Programme Officer’ on a full-time basis who will report to the Team Leader of the IAAAP.

The desired candidate must be willing and able to work in Somaliland, Puntland, Mogadishu city and South-Central.

Scope of Work
The work of the ‘Programme Officer’ will include the following elements:
Support the Team Leader in all activities
Assist the Team Leader in drafting ToRs for upcoming projects;
Assist the Programme Leadership Board (PLB) in Analyzing project proposals, Inception reports, milestone and final reports;
Liaise and communicate with programme sub-contractors in Somalia and Kenya
Assist in identifying and communicating with programme stakeholders.

Qualification and profile
Candidates are expected to meet the following requirements.

Qualifications:
University degree in a relevant study (e.g. political economy / economics / law / sociology);
In depth understanding of the social dynamics and political economy of Somalia;
Fluency in both English and Somali language;
Excellent reporting skills in English;
Computer literate.
Professional experience:
Five or more years of professional experience management related experience would be considered an asset
Working experience in Somalia would be an asset
Confidentiality: All selected candidates will be subject to Mott MacDonald and DFID confidentiality rules and regulations.

Duration and Location
The initial contract will be for one year (220 work days) with an option for prolongation.

The contract intents to start on the 1st of May 2016.

The programme officer will be stationed in the Nairobi with frequent travel to Somalia foreseen.

Budget
The remuneration will be commensurate with job requirement and experiences.

Organization
The Programme Officer will report to the CEO of the IAAAP.
