The Regional Content Curator is responsible for providing compelling video, photographic content and information/case studies from East Africa for the IRW Family, to help IRW and partner offices promote the organisation’s work in the region.
This includes but is not limited to collecting and capturing the success stories of the transformative impact of IRW’s work. The main base for the role is Nairobi but with extensive travel within the region – more than half of the time will be spent travelling internationally to field offices and operations in the region. The role reports in to the External Relations and Advocacy Division at the international office in the UK and also liaises closely with relevant colleagues in the International Programmes Division in East Africa. Ultimately the barometer of success will be the timely capture of case studies demonstrating how donors’ money is being utilised to benefit those in need – both in connection with natural disasters and conflicts and with long-term development projects. S/he will oversee the gathering of all marketing and media collateral through a network of citizen journalists (regional desk staff, field staff and aid workers, volunteers and – where necessary – freelancers).
The successful candidate will have technical experience of the following, to a high standard, in a corporation or NGO; Copywriting in English; Videography including corporate videos, TV commercials, infomercials; Corporate/commercial photography; Project management – especially adept at dealing with evolving situations; Managing/coordinating a team of field-based videographers, photographers and/or journalists . The candidate will have experience of managing and producing creative in a corporation or in an NGO, ideally within multiple geographies and environments. The candidate must be a team player as well as being able to work on own initiative. The post holder will have a proven record as a multimedia journalist and/or writer. The post holder will have a strong ability to write as well as develop photographic and video collateral in an inspiring, accurate and descriptive manner that is able to bring its reader/donor into proximity with beneficiary communities.#
