Registered Clinical Officer – Kilifi Plantation Ltd

Kilifi plantations Ltd is one of the leading agricultural farms in Kenya located within Kilifi County. Kilifi Plantations was established in 1920 as a sisal plantation. It was privately bought in 1963 and today remains an ongoing agricultural business. Currently Kilifi Plantations consist of a leading national dairy herd milking 400 animals daily producing 3,000 litres a day. The farm also produces 350 tonnes annually of sisal fibre of export quality. Kilifi Plantations is looking for a Company Registered Clinical Officer on short term basis (1st March to 9th April) to relieve the current officer as she proceeds on her leave.

The Role:
The work at this level is of limited scope and complexity. The Registered Clinical officer’s work will involves seeing and examining patients, diagnosing and treating ailments at the company health centre. In addition, the officer will be expected to assist in planning and conducting primary health care activities and counseling a small number of staff engaged on routine patients care and giving support and health education to patients. Other duties involve
• Performing frequent patient evaluation.
• Monitoring vital signs.
• Administering medication.
• Carrying out minor surgeries.
• Monitoring progress of patients and identifying any adverse changes in their health status and advising all parties concerned.
• Referring cases that are complicated or requiring further diagnostic treatment and following up on their progress.
• Coordinating HIV activities including guidance and counseling, testing, and ensuring that peer educators are active and that condoms are available at all dispensing points at all times.
• Providing family planning services.
• Writing and maintaining various health records. Such as:
• Record of illnesses treated (daily report).
• Drugs used to offer treatment.
• Number of sick offs given.
• Weekly injury treatment bills for the purpose of submitting to the insurance company.
• Monthly stock report on drugs and other facilities.
• Compiling the various monthly reports and submitting to Kilifi County Hospital.
• Advising the company on the drugs to be purchased and ensuring that they are in accordance with the current Drug Act.
• Representing the company where necessary.

PERSON SPECIFICATIONS
Academic Qualifications
• Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Surgery from a recognized medical training college
Professional Qualifications
• Certification in Health and Safety
• Be registered by the Clinical Officers Council
• Be knowledgeable and experienced in HIV/AIDS management.
Experience
• At least 2 years experience in the same capacity in a busy hospital.

• Demonstrates high levels of integrity.
Salary details
Daily rate of Kshs. 700.
