Research & Advocacy Officer – GROOTS Kenya

Overall Responsibility: Lead and support grassroots champions to generate evidence, develop advocacy materials and carry out different advocacy activities on different thematic issues including clean energy, climate change, agriculture, extractives, land rights e. t. c

Specifically;

Support grassroots women to conduct context analysis for different themes started for advocacy
Capacity building of grassroots women to generate and analyze data for advocacy
Organizing grassroots women groups for community-led, evidence based advocacy; including supporting them to develop & disseminate relevant advocacy materials
Mapping and sustained engagement with multi-stakeholders and policy makers (Executive and elected leaders) on policy development & implementation (policy dialogue)
Supporting other program staff to develop advocacy content for their different programs.
Participatory M & E & Report writing as necessary
Any other role assigned by the executive director.
Reporting to: Executive Director

Start date: March 2018**

Qualification:

Experience in group organizing, research and policy advocacy
Bachelors’ degree in political or other social sciences
Familiarity on such issues like clean energy, mining & extractives, climate change & DRR, agriculture, environmental conservation is required
At least over 3 years working experience in the NGO sector
Experience working with local communities
An advocate of gender equality & grassroots women empowerment
