We are currently seeking a*Senior Development Officer*to join our Hennepin Health Foundation team. This full time role will work days.
Responsible for donor relations and philanthropic operations including strategic planning, promotion, budget, standards, organization and industry policies, compliance, and evaluation.
_RESPONSIBILITIES_
Responsible for donor relations and philanthropic operations including strategic planning, promotion, budget, standards, organization and industry policies, compliance, and evaluation. Duties include:
Manage a robust pipeline of donor prospects through prospect and donor research using online subscription services, internet, print and interpersonal resources to identify and qualify individuals, foundations and corporations for cultivation and solicitation and creating appropriate records in Raiser’s Edge donor database
Develop and execute targeted donor identification, qualification, and cultivation, solicitation and stewardship efforts such as corporations, community organizations and government agencies. This includes creating a detailed annual plan of work, managing the budget and schedule, facilitating the staff and volunteer planning committee (as appropriate), grant/proposal development and deadlines, standard communication, evaluation and acknowledgment process. Collaborate with health system administrative and foundation leadership in identifying appropriate opportunities
Build and maintain a portfolio of 100 prospects and donors by fostering relationships, responding to requests for proposals, hosting/ participating in meetings, conducting site visits, holding special events or other appropriate activities. Foster donor moves through the five part philanthropic cycle – identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship. Maintain accurate and clear electronic and paper (where required) records of assigned prospects and donors. This includes working closely with the Events Manager on engagement experiences
Work closely with HHF staff and Finance to share activity, promote outcomes, comply with contract and regulatory requirements, maintain accurate records as to submissions in fund accounting and Raiser’s Edge databases, and to assure accurate and timely reporting to funders and regulatory agencies
Write and provide editorial leadership in preparing compelling cases for support, proposals and letters of intent in response to funding source requirements
Maintain current knowledge of safety-net hospital and clinical issues and emerging best practices,e.g. health care reform, in meeting patient and public health needs. Assist in maintaining hospital partnerships and collaborations related to strategic priorities
Participate on and/ or lead development work teams as requested. This includes but is not limited to the data integrity, in-kind donations, donor experience, Affinity Councils and MoveShakers
Partner with and assist colleagues in planning, promoting, executing, and evaluating HHF fundraising events and programs as assigned
Partner with and assist HHF colleagues in the creation of promotional materials for print, web and video including donor letters, newsletter articles, certificates and proposals demonstrating the impact of philanthropy at HCMC
Manage work plans, priorities, budgets, standards, organization and industry policies, compliance, evaluation, and communication strategies.Track and monitor data, course correcting as needed to meet annual development goals and performance metrics
Supervise staff, volunteers, and interns as appropriate in accordance with HCMC leader standards
Adhere to the professional standards and conduct of the Association of Healthcare Philanthropy
Other duties as assigned
_QUALIFICATIONS_
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor s degree
Four (4) years successful experience in a combination of fundraising, portfolio management, donor relations, event planning, writing/ journalism, and people management
An approved equivalent combination of education and experience
Preferred Qualifications
CFRE or other philanthropic certification, or in process of attaining
Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities
Thorough knowledge of safety net hospital and public health issues
Strong relationship building skills with both funders and hospital colleagues
Excellent research and oral/written communication skills
Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge Software
Ability to independently manage grant-seeking initiatives
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
