Training Officer – Nairobi – Médecins du Monde

Médecins du Monde (MdM) is an international humanitarian organisation whose mission is to provide medical care for the most vulnerable populations, the world over, including France.

It seeks to stimulate voluntary commitment from doctors, other health care providers, and from those whose expertise in other fields is needed for its activities, to enlist all competent support required for the achievement of its projects, and to seek at all times to encourage close working relationships with populations in its care.

Training & Capacity Building:
Support Program Coordinator in the development of the capacity building component of the program: developing training plans, training methods, training topics/modules, etc.
In collaboration with Coordinators, develop training/sensitization modules for participants in English and Swahili
In collaboration with Program Coordinator and other colleagues, assess training needs of participants and stakeholders
Deliver training sessions to MdM staff, PWUD (including peer educators), volunteers, interns and other stakeholders (such as medical staff, police, NGO staff, religious & administrative leaders, etc.)
In collaboration with the Program Coordinator, develop pre and post-training questionnaires and evaluation forms for training sessions and analyse results of those tools
Write reports on each training session
Stay informed on protocols, guidelines and all relevant information related to the program
Contribute to the development of IEC materials for PWUD
Coordinate all aspects of the coordination of yearly training calendar
Support the Program Coordinator in promoting MdM training offer, preparing brochures, mapping training offers of other institutions in the same field and streamlining the training curriculum, exchange experience with trainers from other institutions, etc.
Support the Program Coordinator in external communications related to the program and the production of a diverse range of information products (brochures, leaflets, videos…)
Support the Program Coordinator in developing a training guide, contributing to MdM transversal training program, developing information resources (library) for stakeholders.
Responsible for the logistics of training sessions (invitations, training materials, refreshments, etc.)
Any other tasks as requested by Program Coordinator
The training & Capacity Building Officer will be responsible for training and capacity building around the issues of Harm Reduction.

The position will require excellent facilitation skills, organizational skills, and the confidence to work with a variety of people from different partner organizations.

Qualifications:
At least 3 years’ experience in training and community mobilization activities
A degree in the related field
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Knowledge and experience in training curriculum design, development, and delivery
Non-judgmental attitude
Fluent in Swahili and English
Familiarity with current technology: computers, networks and software, including Windows XP Professional programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel, Power Point, Publisher, Outlook and databases
Exceptional writing, editing, and oral communications skills in English

Desirable:
Prior knowledge of harm reduction programmes
Experience with event coordination
Familiarity with marginalized populations and established commitment to cultural diversity and cultural competence is essential.
