Background
Childline Kenya works in Partnership with Government to STOP Child Abuse and Provide a Safe Environment for all Children. We offer the only nationwide helpline service dedicated to children that runs 24 hours toll free, and is accessible by dialing 116. The Helpline provides Counseling, Rescue, Safe Shelter, Medical Care and Legal Support. We actively educate the public on Child Safety, working with key government agencies and child protection partners in all the 47 counties.

Objective:
Childline Kenya is looking for a qualified Kenyan with the necessary expertise to support and maintain our internal and external communications. This will contribute to raising our organizational profile, engage our audiences, extend our reach, build networks, and harness support and donations.
Roles and responsibilities
Website- (www.childlinekenya.co.ke)
• Generate and curate content ideas – write, produce and liaise with the rest of the Communications and Programmes team to maintain and develop content on the website ensuring that it is engaging and correctly branded
• Co-ordinate with colleagues to ensure that the web content is up to date
• Utilise digital marketing tools and analytics to increase visitors and data capture from our website
• Establish new ways to encourage people to visit, interact with Childline Kenya
Digital Communications- ( E-Newsletter and Social media platforms: Facebook- Childline Kenya, Twitter- @childlinekenya, Instagram- @childlinekenya )
• Contribute to a digital communications strategy including social media plans
• Develop a strong visual identity, making it appropriate and engaging for digital channel
• Monitor and update social media channels in line with key messages, ensuring effective content in order to grow our reach and influence
• Develop and share a monthly e-newsletter to our audiences and using analytics find new ways to involve them with our work
• Working with the Child Helpline, Outreach and fundraising teams to develop and deliver engaging digital public campaign
• Maintain and develop our visual content library (images, video, animation, infographics) using a range of software tools
• Work with the campaign team to devise ways to recruit new members and donors, develop and retain existing supporters and regain previous online and offline supporters.
• Coordinate and oversee media monitoring and media outreach
• Maintain lists of media contacts
• Create writings, including press releases, media advisories, talking points, Op-Ed pieces and various other communication priorities.
Monitoring and Evaluation
• Report on the performance of our website and social media channels using appropriate tools to establish relevant key performance indicators
• Monitor activity and report key findings from Google Analytics, with a view to development of a data driven approach to developing website content
• Identify patterns, suggest and make improvements to effectiveness of digital communications, where appropriate
• Provide monthly progress reports to the Resource Mobilization Officer.
QUALIFICATIONS
• A degree in Journalism, Marketing and Public Relations (or a related discipline).
• At least 2 years’ experience in the field.
• An understanding and appreciation of online marketing and social media channels and platforms.
• Excellent writing skills, with the ability to communicate to different audiences.
• Ability to establish strong working relationships with colleagues and senior management
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work to deadline
• Experience in using e-newsletters such as MailChimp and CRM databases
• Knowledge of integrated digital marketing techniques, such as Search Engine Optimisation (SEO), Search Engine Marketing (SEM) and viral marketing.
