1.0 Introduction: Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology (JOOUST), is a premier institution of higher learning situated in Siaya County, Western Kenya.
The Main Campus is located in Bondo Town along Kisumu–Usenge Road, while satellite campuses are located in Busia, Kisumu, Kisii and Nairobi.
JOOUST has recently established the Centre for Research, Innovation and Technology (CRIT) to drive the Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) agenda.
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join an enthusiastic multi-disciplinary and growing team of researchers to lead the Centre.
The University is therefore looking for an experienced and visionary research leader with demonstrable resource mobilization ability and excellent rapport with development partners.
2.0 The Position
Reporting to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Research, Innovation and Outreach, the Director CRIT will implement the Centre’s strategic plan to achieve the research objectives and mobilise resources for the University’s development programmes.
The Director will be responsible for the identification of research priority areas, development and support of innovative research, capacity development, fund raising, marketing, strategic partnerships and corporate social responsibility.
3.0 Key Requirements
Applicants must be holders of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in biological, physical, engineering or social sciences. Besides, they must possess excellent interpersonal communication skills; have extensive technical and managerial experience as well as skills and expertise in a research environment.
4.0 Other Requirements
This is a professorial level position and applicants must meet the minimum requirements for appointment.
Those at senior-lecturer level must have served for at least five years in the same position.
In addition, they must demonstrate ability to attract funding through proposal writing, grants secured and linkages established.
Applicants should also demonstrate clear research outputs through publications either in refereed journals or book chapters.
5.0 Terms: The position is on a three-years contract renewable based on performance
