Transport Supervisor – Thika – Corporate staffing Services

Our client is a leading animal feeds manufacturing company as well as a distributor of animal produce both in the coastal region as well as the Central region.

They are in need of recruiting a Transport Supervisor.

Job Purpose: To plan, direct, coordinate and supervise the transportation operations within Company and any other transport services activities carried out by Company and its associates

Duties & Responsibilities
Vehicles maintenance:
Ensuring all vehicles are in good working order and liaising with the sales coordination team to ensure all deliveries are achieved as required on a daily basis
Advice and direct activities related to dispatching, routing, and tracking transportation vehicles
Planning and overseeing maintenance and repairs for the vehicles; ensure the maintenance and repair schedule is shared with all line managers and directors on a weekly basis
Ensuring all the insurances for the vehicles are up to date
Following up on all re-imbursements for motor vehicle accidents and all insurance related cases
Handling all matters arising with regards to ensuring the cars have the required permits + licenses, vehicles stranded in the field etc
Team management & development:

1. Plan, organize and manage the work of subordinate staff (drivers and turn men) to ensure that the work is accomplished in a manner consistent with company’s requirements

2. Direct investigations to verify and resolve customer complaints on deliveries; liaising with the sales coordination team will be required for unity purposes during service delivery

3. Develop training and development plans in conjunction with the HR department for the subordinates covering issues such as;
The documentation required during deliveries, how it should be filled, who should fill it
The importance of relaying customer feedback – good or bad and who to relay it to
The importance of relaying the challenges they face when in the field and in the office
How to conduct themselves when in the field to be a representative of the company
How to handle negative feedback from customers and colleagues
How to execute their job cards more efficiently:
Ensuring trays carried during deliveries are enough
Sharing their job

4. Collaborate with other managers and staff members in order to formulate and implement policies, procedures, goals, and objectives

5. Any other duties that may be assigned to you by your direct managers or directors

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required
Diploma/ Degree in Logistics and Fleet Management
Supply chain management skills
Computer proficiency
Possess good supervisory skills
Minimum 3 years’ experience in a related field
